Animoca Brands and CyberConnect partner to build decentralized social layer for Mocaverse
15 August 2023 – CyberConnect, Web3’s earliest and biggest social network, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a strategic partnership with Animoca Brands, the company advancing digital property rights for gaming and the open metaverse, to build a decentralized social layer for Mocaverse, the NFT collection of the Animoca Brands ecosystem. CyberConnect’s smart account infrastructure CyberAccount will power the identity layer of Mocaverse, offering companies in the Animoca Brands’ portfolio the opportunity to build their own social graph and power interoperable user experiences across games, products, and services.
With CyberConnect’s recent V3 upgrade introducing CyberAccount, Web3’s first scalable and battle-tested ERC-4337-powered smart account, both companies decided to expand the scope of their partnership. Since its launch on 26 July 2023, CyberAccount has become an industry leader in ERC-4337 account abstraction, deploying over 90% of all smart accounts (smart contract wallets) created to date.
Animoca Brands and CyberConnect plan to lay out an industry model with this upcoming Web3 social network that can lay the foundation for a new primitive in building consumer products and applications that empower users to travel across their favorite applications without recreating their networks.
ERC-4337-powered smart accounts allow Web3 developers to abstract away the complexities of crypto wallets and make the user experience and onboarding as intuitive and familiar as Web2. Applications built upon CyberAccount will enable users to access various games and services from Animoca Brands and its portfolio companies with an all-in-one smart account.
Even though existing wallet or account solutions like MetaMask allow developers to tap into a crypto-native user base, they lack the ability to empower developers in deploying context-specific, personalized user experiences. With a social graph deeply integrated with users’ CyberAccount, developers can bootstrap their decentralized applications, significantly reducing the time to bring their product to market and reach previously unexplored user bases. Animoca Brands aims to increase adoption with this ‘super account’ approach and empower developers with a first-of-its-kind user onboarding solution.
In the coming months, Animoca Brands will roll out support for CyberAccount across Mocaverse, allowing users to bring their friends, fans, followers, and connections with them to their favorite applications.
