Animoca Brands invites crypto community to support Tai Po fire relief

27 November 2025 - Animoca Brands today announced an initiative for relief and recovery efforts for those affected by the fire at a large apartment complex in Tai Po, Hong Kong. As part of the initiative, Animoca Brands invites the global crypto community to contribute by donating tokens to two dedicated wallet addresses set up by Animoca Brands to receive donations:

Animoca Brands pledges to convert tokens donated to the above wallets into Hong Kong dollars and donate all proceeds to the Hong Kong Red Cross to support relief and recovery efforts.

Background

On 26 November 2025, a severe fire broke out in Wang Fuk Court, a large residential estate in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district. The fire spread across eight residential high-rise blocks, affecting over 1,900 flats and more than 4,600 residents. The blaze was classified as a No. 5 alarm, Hong Kong’s highest level. As of today, 65 people have died and around 280 people are missing, making it Hong Kong’s worst fire in seven decades and one of the worst disasters in the history of the territory.

The public is invited to donate tokens to these wallet addresses by 2 December 2025.  Animoca Brands pledges to convert donated tokens into Hong Kong dollars, cover all gas fees incurred during the conversion process, and donate 100% of the resulting Hong Kong dollars to the Hong Kong Red Cross Tai Po Fire Emergency Appeal. This conversion and donation will be conducted on 3 December. For transparency, Animoca Brands will post a donation receipt showing the final amount collected and donated.
