Animoca Brands’ popular game Benji Bananas adopts ApeCoin for play-to-earn
17 March 2022: Animoca Brands, the company advancing digital property rights for gaming and the metaverse, announced today that its popular mobile game Benji Bananas is going play-to-earn (P2E) with the adoption of ApeCoin. The first phase of the transition is the sale of Benji Passes that will allow players to collect special tokens when playing Benji Bananas; the sale starts at www.benjibananas.com on 17 March 2022.
Issued by the ApeCoin DAO, ApeCoin (APE) is the ERC-20 governance and utility token made to empower a decentralized community building at the forefront of Web3. ApeCoin is being adopted by the Bored Ape ecosystem as the primary token for new products and services.
Bored Ape Yacht Club is a collection of 10,000 Bored Ape NFTs created by Yuga Labs. Commonly known as BAYC, the collection was launched in April of 2021 and has expanded to include the spinoff collections Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC), and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC).
Benji Bananas is a free-to-play mobile game from Animoca Brands available for download on the App Store and Google Play. It is a popular action game (over 50 million downloads) in which players make Benji the monkey and his friends leap from vine to vine through the jungle.
Benji Bananas is transitioning to a play-to-earn model on Ethereum, starting with the introduction of the Benji Bananas Membership Pass (‘Benji Pass’), an NFT that will enable its owners to earn special tokens when playing Benji Bananas, and that will also allow those tokens to be swapped for ApeCoin.
The first sale of the Benji Pass launches at 9 p.m. (EST) on 17 March 2022 at the game’s web site at https://www.benjibananas.com.
