Executive Chairman

 

Yat Siu

Veteran technology entrepreneur/investor Yat Siu is the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, a global leader in blockchain and gaming with the goal to provide property rights for virtual assets. Yat began his career at Atari Germany, then established Hong Kong Cybercity/Freenation, the first free web page and email provider in Asia. In 1998 he set up Outblaze, an award-winning pioneer of multilingual white label web services. After selling one of its business units to IBM, he pivoted Outblaze to incubate digital entertainment projects. One of those projects is Animoca Brands.

Yat has numerous accolades, including Global Leader of Tomorrow at the World Economic Forum, Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the DHL/SCMP Awards, and recognition as one of Cointelegraph's top 100 notable people in blockchain. A classically trained musician, Yat is a member of the advisory board of BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) and a director of the Asian Youth Orchestra.
 

 

Non-Executive Directors

 

David Brickler

Mr Brickler is the ICT Manager for Baptcare - a provider of healthcare and family and community services throughout Victoria and Tasmania. Before this, Mr Brickler was Senior Director of Applications for World Vision International, one of the world’s largest non-profit organisations. Prior to that, he served as Asia Pacific CIO for Mizuho Securities Asia Ltd., was an Executive Director of Ernst & Young in Hong Kong, and Global CIO for the Noble Group, one of the largest commodities traders in the world. Mr Brickler was the founder and CEO of Emergent Technology Limited, a venture-backed Hong Kong supply-chain company, and a Vice President of Information Technology at Caspian Securities. Prior to his 14 years in Hong Kong, he spent 15 years in Japan, including several years as the Vice President of Equity Technology at Goldman Sachs Securities Co. Ltd, Japan. Mr Brickler also served in various engineering positions at EDS Japan LLC, Sundai, and Fujitsu Limited. He holds an MBA from Kellogg-HKUST and a BA from Princeton University and is a fluent speaker of Chinese and Japanese.

 

Chris Whiteman

Mr Whiteman is an executive with over twenty years of experience in commercial management, finance, and strategic advisory roles across various industries including gaming and app development, energy and resources, and investment management. Mr Whiteman has a degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide, a graduate diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA, and CFA Level 1 designation from the CFA Institute. He is well versed in international affairs and has extensive experience in the culture and business dealings of Asia. Mr Whiteman has specific expertise in equity markets and deal structuring including advising on IPOs and other capital raisings, investor and public relations, and strategic planning for both public and private entities in Australia, China, Mongolia, and the United Kingdom.

Mr Whiteman is a non-executive director of iCandy Interactive Limited, a game development company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.

 

Company Secretary

 

John Madden

Mr Madden has over 30 years of experience in financial reporting in both small and large listed entities. He has performed company secretarial roles for Indophil Resources NL (ASX:IRN; 2003 to 2008) and Aura Energy Limited (ASX:AEE; 2016 to present), as well as Indian Pacific Resources Limited (2009 to present). He brings an extensive knowledge of business analysis, taxation and financing, budgeting and planning, governance, and implementation of strategic initiatives.
