17 July 2024 - Motorsport gaming studio Grease Monkey Games, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has released Update 10 of its flagship drift racing simulator Torque Drift 2 (TD2), available for PC on the Epic Games Store, where it has accrued more than 400,000 downloads. Following the success of Early Access Update 9, which introduced a new in-game virtual currency, freestyle mode, multiplayer leaderboards, in-game shop, and multiple car models, Update 10 brings an array of exciting new gameplay features, including Lead and Chase challenges, performance parts tuning, a new legendary Japanese track, and an expanded selection of iconic cars with deeper customization options.

The Lead and Chase challenges, a beloved feature from Torque Drift 1, give players an opportunity to experience the thrill of professional drifting with high-performance cars. During Lead events, gamers will try to set the best score they can before the timer runs out or they cross the finish line. Players can also maximize their score by earning drift achievements and going through Clipping Points and Zones. During Chase events, players will race against a set Lead which they have to beat in score once they cross the finish line. Players can maximize their score against the Lead by replicating what they did and by earning drift achievements such as “Tandem” and “Door Dive.”

In addition to the new legendary Daikoku track, an iconic landmark for Japanese car meets and street drifting, Torque Drift 2 Update 10 expands its car lineup with the introduction of new vehicles, such as the Toyota AE86, made famous by the Japanese street racing manga and anime series Initial D, and the Mazda RX3. Additionally, players can now purchase Pro Car Bundles, which include vehicles driven by professional drifters like Adam LZ, Odi Bakchis, Chris Forsberg, Sammit, and the RTR Ford Mustang Team. These bundles come complete with fully equipped cars, parts, custom keychains, and bobbleheads.

Players can use REVV, the utility token of Motorverse, to purchase the Limited Edition cars and parts available in the game, expanding their virtual garages and customizing their cars. Players who purchase using REVV tokens will receive a 30% discount on limited-edition Nissan and Subaru cars.

REVV can be earned in-game, including by participating in Leaderboard competitions. Holders can stake REVV via the Motorverse Hub to become eligible for perks such as in-game benefits and fan experiences provided by partners of TD2

Update 10 of Torque Drift 2 also includes an events tab and scheduler to create a living gameplay area where new events and challenges surface each day. There are a variety of event types for players to choose from and compete in. Players are given a score target, a track and layout, and a car to drive for the event, allowing them to mix up their gameplay in between freestyle events.

Furthermore, TD2 now offers extensive customization options with the introduction of performance parts tuning. Players can enhance their vehicles with turbos, engines, gearboxes, angle kits, and ECU modifications to gain a competitive edge in races. New body kits, including Liberty Walk, are now available to further enhance vehicle customization and allow players to personalize their rides with unique and striking aesthetics.

"With the Update 10, we are bringing the greatest drifting experience to the world,” said Arran Potter, CEO of Grease Monkey Games. "The new Lead and Chase challenges and the addition of the iconic Daikoku track will bring an even more realistic and authentic racing environment and give gamers new ways to drive and customize their cars. Our mission is to provide the most authentic and engaging drifting experience possible."

Since its initial release in Early Access in October 2023, Torque Drift 2 has been downloaded by more than 400,000 players, setting up a vibrant ecosystem for motorsports fans and enthusiasts. The game offers extensive profile and garage customization options, realistic car physics, and performance tuning for PC peripherals, including mouse and keyboard, game controllers and simulator rigs. With a powerful suite of user-generated content creation tools and both single and multiplayer experiences, Torque Drift 2 provides a “play-your-way” experience.

Through Torque Drift 2’s numerous licensed partnerships, some of the world’s most prominent motorsport organizations and car and part manufacturers are already represented in the game, including Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Formula DRIFT, Konig, Mishimoto, and others, with more to be added in the near future.

In 2022, Animoca Brands and Grease Monkey Games partnered with Formula DRIFT (also known as Formula D or FD) — a prominent US-based motorsport drifting series co-founded by Jim Liaw and Ryan Sage in 2003 — in North America and Japan. This partnership evolves further with RTR Mustang Team car bundles being added to Torque Drift 2’s Update 10, where players can now drive the same cars that the RTR Mustang Team drive in Formula DRIFT.
