“The Sandbox” partners with Binance Launchpad to sell SAND utility tokens


5 August 2020: Animoca Brands Corporation Limited (“Animoca Brands” or the “Company”) is pleased to advise that The Sandbox will launch a US$3 million sale of SAND tokens on Binance Launchpad, Binance’s exclusive token launch platform for transformative blockchain projects. SAND is the main utility token for The Sandbox, the blockchain-based, community-driven gaming and game creation platform that will allow content creators to monetize gaming assets and experiences.

The highly anticipated SAND sale will start on Binance Launchpad on 13 August 2020, at 06:00 UTC (+0) at 360 million SAND tokens (being 12% of the total supply of SAND) will be made available for purchase at a price of US$0.0083 per token.

The Sandbox is a unique virtual world that will offer a deeply immersive “metaverse” in which virtual worlds and games will be created collaboratively and without central authority. The Sandbox seeks to capitalise on the popularity of user generated content (UGC) in gaming by giving players the benefits of true digital ownership over their creations in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which players can trade or sell without restrictions. NFTs are virtual tokens for digital scarcity, security, and authenticity, and in The Sandbox they represent objects and real estate in the game universe. 

Players will be able to explore various games and worlds, while content creators will be able to build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences by using NFTs and SAND. Holders of SAND will be able to participate in the governance of the platform via a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), in which they can exercise voting rights on key decisions for The Sandbox ecosystem.

The Sandbox has secured over 50 partnerships with notable gaming companies such as Atari, CryptoKitties (Dapper Labs), and Shaun the Sheep.

In a show of support for The Sandbox, Binance Labs has also acquired an undisclosed number of SAND tokens. Binance Labs is the venture arm of Binance that was established to incubate, invest, and empower blockchain and cryptocurrency entrepreneurs and communities.
