F1® Delta Time puts “Australia Edition 2020” race car NFT up for charity auction to support Australia bushfire recovery efforts
12 March 2020: Animoca Brands announces a non-profit charity event to raise funds for Australia’s bushfire recovery efforts in the form of an auction of a unique non-fungible token (NFT) in F1® Delta Time: the one-of-a-kind “Australia Edition 2020” race car. The auction starts on 12 March 2020 at 3 am (GMT) and runs until 22 March 2020 at 3 am (GMT) at www.F1DeltaTime.com. All wrapped ether earned from the auction will be sent to Finder and HiveEx who will then convert it to Australian dollars. 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to a number of organisations who are aiding relief and recovery efforts, and will be split evenly between the NSW Rural Fire Service Association, WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.), and Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.
The catastrophic bushfires that began in June 2019 were among the worst ever seen in Australia. The fires have destroyed millions of hectares of land, over 3,000 homes and nearly 6,000 buildings, and killed at least 57,000 livestock and 34 people across Australia. It is estimated that more than one billion animals perished from bushfires and drought, including as many as 10,000 koalas (a third of New South Wales’ total koala population), making them a potentially endangered species. While the New South Wales Rural Fire Service recently reported that there are no longer active bush or grass fires in the hardest-hit state of New South Wales, the wildfires have already brought great devastation to the country. All NFTs in F1® Delta Time, will forever be owned by their owners regardless of any decisions taken by the game, Formula 1®, or Animoca Brands.
Players are free to do anything they want with their NFTs: they can sell them on a marketplace for real money, trade them, or use them to play F1® Delta Time. Since NFTs exist independently across blockchain, players can even use their F1® NFTs in other blockchain games (third party support required).

F1® NFT auctions and crate sale
F1® Delta Time has previously completed several auctions for official Formula 1® NFTs, generating over 920 ETH in total. The landmark “1-1-1” digital car collectible was sold on 28 May 2019 for a record price of 415.9 ether (worth approximately US$113,000 at the time of sale); this was followed by the “Monaco Edition 2019”, “France Edition 2019”, “Japan Edition 2019”, “China Edition 2019 Azure Dragon” and 10 official F1® team car NFTs.
The first F1® Delta Time crate sale ended on 10 March 2020. A total of 2,375 crates were sold for over US$364,000.
Staking NFTs to generate in-game currency
In F1® Delta Time, cars are NFTs and will have the ability to generate REV through “staking”, with rarer cars generating higher amounts of REV. REV is an ERC-20 token and the primary in-game currency in F1® Delta Time.
When you choose to stake your car, you temporarily transfer ownership to F1® Delta Time and lose the ability to use, sell or trade that car, but you will earn REV based on the period of time that your car is staked.
