Phantom Galaxies Planet Private Sale heavily oversubscribed, raises US$19.3M
Sydney, Australia, 17 May 2022 -- Animoca Brands and Blowfish Studios announced today the successful close of the heavily oversubscribed Planet Private Sale for Phantom Galaxies, one of the most anticipated AAA blockchain games. 7,734 Planets and Asteroids (“Planets”) were sold for a total of US$19.3 million.
Planets are unique NFTs that will provide holders with in-game real estate and utility as well as an emission of the native cryptocurrency of Phantom Galaxies based on gameplay factors.
Phantom Galaxies is an open-world mech combat game, currently in Alpha, developed by Blowfish Studios. Phantom Galaxies will be one of the first blockchain-based AAA game titles to launch with broad appeal to both traditional gaming enthusiasts and Web3 natives. Three of the four episodes of the Alpha version are available now, and early access to the Beta launch is expected to occur in Q3 2022.
There are currently over 125,000 users actively playing the Alpha version of Phantom Galaxies and over 500,000 owners of the NFTs granting access to the Alpha game. These NFTs have generated over 1,700 in ETH trading volume on OpenSea.
Planets are key in-game assets for Phantom Galaxies, representing the game’s user-ownable real estate. Each Planet will have designated coordinates within the game universe, and will have randomised traits that make it unique. Owners will have full digital property rights over Planets and will be able to monetize them by building structures, such as marketplaces and hangars, as well as choose their Planet’s governance system. A number of strategic supporters invested in Phantom Galaxies during the Planet Private Sale, including Sequoia China, Liberty City Ventures, GameFi Ventures, Everest Ventures Group, Terrace Tower Group, MDDN Co (Joel and Benji Madden), Adrian Cheng, SMO Capital, Polygon Ventures, Dapper Labs, NFT Live + Cagyjan, Kingsway, 3Commas Capital, Double Peak, Mind Fund, Defi Cap, and others. A number of gaming guilds also participated, including Avocado DAO, YGG, and YGG SEA.
The wider public will have the chance to own a piece of Phantom Galaxies in an upcoming Planet Public Sale. Two presales for the public will give select users the opportunity to purchase a Planet before the full public sale. Presale A will be available to holders of a Hopeful NFT, which can be purchased on OpenSea. Presale B will be available to 7,500 users who own an Episode 2 Medal NFT, which can be attained by completing Episode 2 of the Alpha and redeeming a Poster NFT. CORRECTION: this announcement has been updated on 13 October 2022 to reflect the latest mechanism of how Phantom Galaxies governance and utility token (i.e., ASTRAFER) can be earned by owning a Planet. The Planet does not emit a minimum amount of the ASTRAFER token; emission of the token is based on the size of the Planet and player's gameplay factors.
